Los logros alcanzados han sido posibles gracias al apoyo de cientos de aliados y donantes que permiten seguir diseñando e implementando proyectos en las regiones más vulnerables del país para proteger a la niñez y contribuir a la construcción de paz. |

Desde 1962, PLAN ha enfocado todos los proyectos hacia los derechos de niñas y niños, y la nueva meta incluye como prioridad la igualdad de las niñas y su empoderamiento para que aprendan, lideren, decidan y prosperen. PLAN primero llegó a las regiones más vulnerables como Chocó, Cauca y la Costa Atlántica, donde brindaba atención directa y apoyo económico a las niñas, niños y sus familias, gracias al patrocinio de personas alrededor del mundo interesadas en ayudarlos. A través de los años su enfoque asistencialista fue cambiando hacia proyectos directos con las niñas, niños y sus familias, además de ir aumentando su cobertura. Actualmente, está presente en más de 400 municipios, en los 32 departamentos de Colombia y su trabajo en las regiones tiene un fuerte enfoque en la construcción de paz y en la igualdad de género.
Consciente de la importancia del trabajo con las niñas a causa de las brechas y de los fuertes estereotipos de género que persisten en la sociedad, PLAN desarrolla proyectos para fortalecer y empoderar la voz de las niñas, adolescentes y mujeres jóvenes para impactar sus vidas y su comunidad. Por otra parte, desde hace más de diez años le apuesta a la construcción de paz en el país donde niñas y niños son determinantes, buscando transformar la cultura de la violencia por una cultura de paz basada en el amor y el respeto, la reconciliación y fortaleciendo el tejido social. En Cartagena, PLAN desarrolla el proyecto Campeonas y Campeones del Cambio, en alianza con el Chelsea F.C, utilizando el poder y la popularidad del fútbol para enseñarles a los jóvenes acerca de la igualdad de género, el respeto y la tolerancia en Clemencia, Villanueva, Arjona y Sincerín y Nelson Mandela. PLAN invita a que más colombianos se sumen por la niñez colombiana y que conozcan el trabajo que la fundación desarrolla. “Con nuestro trabajo queremos que la niñez y la juventud de Colombia tengan más oportunidades para poder cumplir sus sueños y así hacerlos realidad”, concluye Gabriela Bucher Balcázar, Presidente Ejecutiva de PLAN. |
