El Caquetá cuenta con el 84.96% del Parque Nacional Natural «Serranía de Chiribiquete» que registra cerca de 2.800 hectáreas.
Esta reserva se extiende en el Caquetá por Cartagena del Chairá, San Vicente del Caguán y Solano, pasando a Calamar en Guaviare.
En estas condiciones es el área protegida de mayor extensión territorial en Colombia.
Carlos Páez, Director del Parque Nacional Natural Chiribiquete sostuvo que viene trabajando bajo la nominación patrimonio mundial cultural y natural de la Unesco. Es así que días anteriores recibieron la visita de funcionarios de la Unesco quienes con dossier en manos realizaron la visita de verificación para constatar las condiciones y ser sometida a esta distinción internacional.
“Los parque nacionales son nominados a ser nominados natural y cultural de la humanidad por su unicidad, que presente ecosistemas únicos en el mundo, igual manifestaciones culturales únicas en el mundo en este caso el parque cuenta con especies que son endémicas así como una colección de pinturas de 2 millones de dibujo un aporte para la humanidad”, dijo.
Alcanzar el reconocimiento de la Unesco contribuirá a reforzar la coordinación entre las instituciones gubernamentales en todos sus niveles, como garantía de la preservación de las condiciones del Parque para que el mismo siga enriqueciendo a las comunidades en el marco del desarrollo sostenible, la preservación de las tradiciones culturales y del paisaje cultural monumental e imponente que representa esta riqueza natural de nuestro país.
“Se siguen las investigación porque se afirma que desde el parque se ha partido la civilización, eso hace parte de unas hipótesis que se maneja sobre el parque”, expresó Páez.
Entre las amenazas latentes para el parque se encuentra la deforestación que viene creciendo en áreas circunvecinas, que se activaron después de la firma de los acuerdos de paz, ya que los ex integrantes de la FARC se ha retirado del territorio y han llegados foráneos a realizar tala indiscriminada.
