Un muestrario del tipo de Cacao producido en el Huila, se presentará  en el Salón del Chocolate de París del 28 de octubre y el 1 de noviembre en el marco de Cocoa of Excellence edición 2017 de losInternational Cocoa Awards evento al que fue invitada Colombia.

Es un concurso mundial que reconoce y celebra el trabajo de los productores de cacao y es considerado el evento más importante que reconoce y premia al cacao con sabores únicos, diversos y excepcionales.

Junto a las muestras  COOPCACAO de la Cuenca del río Ceibas enNeiva Huila, estarán las que provienen de Barrancabermeja en Santander;  Tame y Arauquita de Arauca; Puerto Rico en el  Meta; San Vicente de Chucuri de  Santander, precisó un informe  del Ministerio de Agricultura

Según explicó el ministro de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural, Aurelio Iragorri Valencia, se recibieron 82 muestras de cacao en grano, de las diferentes regiones productoras del país.

El Comité Nacional de Organización del Concurso, conformado por el Ministerio de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural, CORPOICA, la Compañía Nacional de Chocolates, ECOCACAO, FEDECACAO y Casa Luke, realizó el proceso de evaluación física de cada  muestra, de acuerdo a los requerimientos del programa. Como resultado se determinaron las 35 mejores muestras y finalmente el análisis sensorial permitió seleccionar las mejores 8 (6 comerciales y 2 experimentales).

Un informe estadística revela que el año pasado se alcanzaron cifras récord en la producción que  alcanzó 56.785 toneladas, gracias al estímulo que generan políticas adoptadas por el Gobierno Nacional a través de programas como” Colombia Siembra” y el respaldo de gremio cacaotero, lo que se cuantifica en  el aumentó de 3,6%, frente a las 54.798 toneladas cosechadas en el 2015.

La misma estadística revela que MinAgricultura ha invertido más de $38 mil millones en apoyos que han beneficiado a más de 21 mil familias en los últimos dos años.
