Como cualquier Santo Tomás, ver para creer. Así estamos. En la campaña electoral de los Estados Unidos, lo insólito es lo de corriente ocurrencia.
En el partido republicano, un multimillonario enloquecido haciendo afirmaciones políticamente incorrectas, va rumbo a la nominación presidencial. La ha emprendido contra los mejicanos, los latinos, los musulmanes, las minorías…, reivindicando la grandeza de los EE.UU. Está ofreciendo eso: recuperar la primacía de la potencia norteamericana en el mundo al precio que sea. Eso suena muy bien en el norteamericano medio, blanco, de poca cultura, al que la globalización está marginando a pasos agigantados. Ha tomado por sorpresa al establishment del partido republicano que no ha podido neutralizar los planteamientos xenófobos y ultraderechistas de Trump. De no ocurrir nada extraordinario, este pistolero verbal estará en la grilla de partida en la campaña presidencial.
Pero la sorpresa más significativa ha aparecido en la contienda del partido demócrata por la nominación presidencial entre Hillary Clinton y Bernie Sanders. La poderosa heredera de la maquinaria partidista, integrante de una de las castas más fuertes de ese partido, se está viendo sorprendida por un candidato independiente, senador por el Estado de Vermont, de corriente socialista democrática que contra todo pronóstico ha venido creciendo, no solo en las encuestas, sino obteniendo triunfos resonantes como el de la reciente primaria de New Hampshire. Que su campaña política la haya centrado en la denuncia de Wall Street, la meca del capital financiero parasitario, como la causante de los males de la población norteamericana; en la ofensiva contra las grandes multinacionales de los combustibles fósiles como las responsables del cambio climático; en la lucha contra la pobreza, el derecho a la educación superior gratuita y a la igualdad social, ha colocado el debate político alrededor de los temas sociales de fondo en una sociedad fracturada por las políticas neoliberales.
Definitivamente, las crisis no perdonan. Están sacudiendo el ambiente político en el mundo entero: Europa, Asia, África, Medio Oriente y América; ya no solo en los países en desarrollo sino que el mundo desarrollado es escenario de enconadas luchas de clase. El viejo orden partidario salta hecho trizas ante la insurgencia del pueblo que busca expresarse en nuevas formas organizativas o en tendencias renovadoras en el seno de los viejos partidos. Independiente del resultado final, que Sanders hable de que va a realizar una revolución política en los Estados Unidos y siga atrayendo adeptos, es una muestra clara de la inconformidad social, de la rebeldía de las inmensas masas de trabajadores, de desposeídos que se han cansado de los abusos del gran capital y que reivindican su derecho inalienable al trabajo, a un salario justo, a la salud, a la educación, al ambiente sano…, en fin a la vida digna. De ahí su indignación. Estamos ante la primavera de las clases del trabajo: en los años por venir el mundo será puesto patas arriba. ¡Bienvenido el desorden!
