Un grupo de profesionales de la Autoridad Nacional de Acuicultura y Pesca – AUNAP – comprometido con el aprovechamiento y protección de las especies nativas de interés pesquero, estandarizó la reproducción del pez doncella (Ageneiosus pardalis), especie catalogada como vulnerable (VU) en la categorización de amenaza nacional, de alto valor comercial y de interés para los pescadores artesanales.
El logro científico importante para el sector pesquero se adelantó en La Estación Piscícola del Alto Magdalena, ubicada en Gigante Huila, distante 398 kilómetros de Bogotá, Colombia.
“La estandarización de la reproducción, consiste en la identificación de la mejor técnica para lograr de manera exitosa y repetitiva: la maduración sexual de los reproductores, la inducción hormonal, la obtención de huevos fértiles, incubación y larvicultura y el manejo de los ejemplares obtenidos en sistemas cerrados o condiciones de laboratorio y la protocolización de procedimientos para llevar a cabo el desarrollo de los peces en cada fase de crecimiento en las piscigranjas” señala reporte de prensa de AUNAP.
La etapa complementaria para esta investigación es la socialización y difusión de los desarrollos científicos alcanzados al sector investigativo, académico, técnico y productivo, que permitan complementar y desarrollar nuevas técnicas, así como generar mayor conocimiento entorno a esta especie.
Especie en la categorización de amenaza nacional
La Doncella está catalogada como vulnerable (VU) en la categorización de amenaza nacional, evidencia de ello es el gran declive en los volúmenes de captura y en la talla media de los peces capturados; esto ocasionado por la elevada demanda y pesca y/o extracción del recurso en cuerpos de agua naturales (lagunas) y embalses. “Es necesario hacer visible la importancia de esta especie como uno de los principales recursos ícticos promisorios de la cuenca del Magdalena. Lo anterior, no solo para fomentar el cultivo de la misma (alevinaje, levante y engorde) sino para contribuir de forma directa a la disminución en su presión de pesca y favorecer su preservación”, agregó el técnico de la AUNAP, Cristian Erazo.
Repoblamiento de la especie
Para el repoblamiento se debe hacer un estudio de las zonas donde la especie habita o habitó históricamente, para no causar un impacto ambiental negativo al introducirla en un ecosistema en el cual no sea autóctono.
Una vez identificado el cuerpo de agua, con el apoyo de pescadores artesanales o habitantes de la zona, se ubican las mejores zonas donde tradicionalmente se encuentran peces en estadio juvenil, de tal manera que los alevinos sembrados cuenten con alimentación y protección para su correcto desarrollo.
