El Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social en coordinación con el Instituto de Hidrología, Meteorología y Estudios Ambientales (IDEAM) hace un llamado a la comunidad para atender recomendaciones derivadas de la predicción climática, de tal manera que se puedan tomar decisiones en los territorios.
Jairo Hernández Márquez, subdirector de Salud Ambiental del Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social manifestó “que la predicción climática se esperan condiciones frías hasta el mes de abril”.

De acuerdo con los resultados del pronóstico de los modelos del IDEAM, para esta temporada, se espera un aumento por encima de los valores climatológicos normales de la precipitación entre un 10 % y un 50 % en el sur y oriente de la región Caribe, en áreas del valle medio del Magdalena y sur de la región Andina, la Orinoquía y norte de la Amazonia.
Las zonas con lluvias por debajo de los valores normales se esperan en, el centro del litoral de la región Caribe, entre 10 % y 30 %. En el resto del país se espera que se registren lluvias con valores dentro de los rangos normales.

En cuanto a las recomendaciones en salud, el subdirector Hernández explicó que en la región Caribe se espera un favorecimiento de las condiciones ambientales propicias para la ocurrencia de casos de Dengue, Chikunguña y Zika, sobre todo en los Distritos de Barranquilla, al igual que en los departamentos de Atlántico, Bolívar, Córdoba, La Guajira, San Andrés y Sucre, al igual que en el departamento de Chocó, Casanare y Norte de Santander, para el caso de las regiones Pacífica, Andina y Orinoquía.
Por lo anterior, se sugiere intensificar la vigilancia, búsqueda de casos y adecuado control vectorial, asimismo, trabajar con las comunidades con el fin de concientizarlas acerca del correcto almacenamiento de agua, el uso de toldillos y la consulta temprana a los servicios de salud.

Por otra parte, se espera un ligero aumento de casos de enfermedad diarreica aguda en Bogotá y en el departamento de Cundinamarca. Para el resto de departamentos y dadas las condiciones medioambientales, se proyecta un comportamiento epidemiológico habitual. Se recomienda reforzar las medidas de manejo adecuado de fuentes de abastecimiento de agua con el fin de evitar el almacenamiento erróneo de este líquido.
Finalmente, en cuanto a infección respiratoria aguda, se espera un aumento de casos en los distritos especiales de Barranquilla, Cartagena y Santa Marta y en los departamentos de Córdoba, La Guajira, Magdalena, San Andrés y Sucre; también en la región Andina, se espera un ligero incremento de casos en los departamentos de Antioquia, Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Huila, Risaralda y Santander; en la región Pacífica, teniendo en cuenta el pronóstico para la región, se espera un incremento en la en los departamentos de Cauca, Chocó y Valle del Cauca, y en la región Amazonía, se espera un incremento de casos en los departamentos de Caquetá, Guainía, Putumayo y Vaupés.

Adicionalmente, se hace un llamado de alerta para continuar y reforzar las acciones de vigilancia y autocuidado requeridos para disminuir la infección por covid-19 en todo el país. “Se deben reforzar las acciones relacionadas con el frecuente lavado de manos, conservar la distancia con las personas que no viven en el hogar, evitar el contacto con personas enfermas, fortalecer la cobertura de vacunación en la población, descartar aglomeraciones y espacios mal ventilados debido a que las condiciones podrían favorecer el incremento de casos”, puntualizó Hernández.
