En estos municipios, que incluyen las 22 Zonas Veredales Transitorias de Normalización acordadas entre el Gobierno Nacional y las FARC, inician diciembre como los primeros del país en lograr la cobertura universal del Programa Colombia Mayor, gracias a la asignación de cerca de 24 mil nuevos cupos por parte del el Gobierno Nacional.
El Programa Colombia Mayor, que entrega un subsidio económico cada dos meses a cerca de 1 millón y medio de adultos mayores en condiciones de vulnerabilidad en todo el país, amplía de esta manera, la cobertura a 43 municipios priorizados del posconflicto.
La asignación de los nuevos cupos, logrará que todos los adultos mayores en lista de priorización, empiecen a recibir subsidio antes de finalizar este año y lo continúen recibiendo de por vida.
Los 43 municipios, están ubicados en 16 departamentos, recomendados por el Consejo Interinstitucional del Posconflicto y el Ministerio del Trabajo otorgó los recursos necesarios para ingresar al Programa Colombia Mayor la totalidad de adultos mayores priorizados.
Esta ampliación ratifica el compromiso del Gobierno con las poblaciones más vulnerables, porque además de triplicar la cobertura, lograr el objetivo de cobertura universal del subsidio al adulto mayor
