¡Mataron el río! El entuerto de Hidroituango ha sumado la enésima víctima. Una que, además, se lleva enredadas las vidas de peces, pescadores, rebuscadores, agricultores, ganaderos, comerciantes, transportadores (de agua y tierra) y, un largo etcétera que reúne la región del bajo Cauca que abarca decenas de municipios y varios departamentos. La que se pierde, es la identidad misma de los pueblos que no se pueden reconocer sin su razón de vida: el territorio ancestral. Hasta el río madre, el río grande de la Magdalena, está sufriendo la ausencia de su principal afluente en la parte baja de su recorrido.
Da tristeza, dolor de patria, impotencia, rabia, coraje, ver las imágenes de los destrozos causados: millares de peces muertos, las inmensas riberas secas, los millones de microorganismos aniquilados que son la base de la vida en los ríos, el abatimiento de los pobladores ante un hecho que no soñaron ni en la peor de las pesadillas, pero, sobre todo, sobrecoge el fuerte olor a muerte que revuelve hasta el más duro de los estómagos.
No es crimen cualquiera. Es uno de lesa humanidad. De esos que son imprescriptibles e imperdonables. No sé por qué el país entero no reacciona contra los responsables. La lesión causada es de tal magnitud que, todos los colombianos deberíamos estar en las calles, exigiendo la sanción más ejemplar a los depredadores, a aquellos que nos roban con violencia y destrozo una parte vital del patrimonio de la nación. O sí sé por qué. Son las élites impúdicas y voraces que, se acostumbraron a enriquecerse saqueando.
En la eventualidad de que salven a Hidroituango (porque de eso se trata), las lesiones ambientales, económicas, sociales, culturales…, serán enormes. Tardaremos años, no se sabe cuántos, recuperando la naturaleza, las relaciones sociales y familiares, las actividades económicas, la identidad de los pueblos asentados en las riberas del Cauca. Responderán los Uribes, los Ramos, los Santos, y, sobre todo, los grandes banqueros detrás del fabuloso negocio de la energía eléctrica. Por lo pronto, ya se oyen voces informadas que anuncian el alza de tarifas en energía eléctrica para ver de cubrir las pérdidas que dejará Hidroituango.
Duele, de manera especial, que de calle puedan llevar al traste a la más importante empresa pública del país: EPM. Sin duda alguna un patrimonio de los medellinenses, los antioqueños y los colombianos. En un país donde, durante las últimas décadas, los gobiernos antinacionales, sin excepción, se han dedicado a feriar el patrimonio público, preferencialmente el de generación, transporte, distribución y comercialización eléctrica, que haya subsistido EPM como empresa pública, solo se puede entender por el sentido de pertenencia de los paisas y por la calidad del trabajo administrativo y operativo de una empresa que envidiamos (con envidia de la buena) todos los ciudadanos de otras regiones.
Solo nos queda cruzar los dedos para que el desastre no termine siendo peor.
