El haber celebrado contratos o incluso estar trabajando con el Estado no es impedimento para ocupar un cargo de magistrado en ningún tribunal del mundo: Ni hace censurable su designación. El Magistrado Mauricio González Cuervo fue secretario jurídico de la presidencia de Uribe desde el 2005 al 2007,cuando su ex-esposa Marcela Monroy tenía contratos con el Estado y llegó a la Corte Constitucional en octubre de 2007, como “el escogido de Uribe Vélez de una terna de uno” (El Espectador 10 febrero de 2010 ).
En honor a la verdad fue un buen magistrado. No ocurrió así con Jorge Pretel que Uribe postuló primero para la Registraduría, luego en 2003 lo ternó para la Fiscalía y en el 2009 en la Corte Constitucional, donde finalmente logró su designación con los resultados conocidos por la opinión. Me alegra que se hable de contratos y no de mermelada, porque contratos celebró con el gobierno Santos el precandidato del Centro Democrático Rafael Nieto Loaiza: el primero 25 de junio en 2012 por $ 200 millones, el mismo día que recibió su tarjeta profesional de abogado y luego en noviembre del mismo año dos contratos más por $ 820 millones, los cuales en conjunto suman más de $ 1.000 millones (ver https://amp.elespectador.com/noticias/politica/rafael-nieto-litigante-primiparo-articulo-406500), sin que por ése solo hecho no pueda ser candidato a la presidencia y/o eventualmente resultar elegido .
