Algo que no puede pasar desapercibido para los colombianos es el realineamiento ideológico que se está presentando en los medios de comunicación porque esto se traduce en un sesgo en los análisis de la información que se producen en el país. Se pierden de esta manera los llamados pesos y contrapesos que ofrece la libertad de prensa que son fundamentales para lograr que quienes tienen el poder no pierdan el camino correcto en sus actuaciones. Siempre han existido diferencias en la forma como se interpretan las noticias, pero lo que estamos viendo en Colombia es más que esto. Semana, que se ha convertido en un popurrí de noticias con análisis superficiales, consolida su nómina de derecha, de defensores a ultranza del gobierno, con la llegada de María Isabel Rueda, una periodista muy reconocida en el país, sin la menor duda.

El Tiempo, el periódico que ha marcado historia en Colombia sin querer queriendo, está sacando a los columnistas que critican posturas y anuncios del gobierno así planten argumentos serios, y en la radio, Blu Radio no solo tiene como director al cuñado del presidente Duque, relación que no disimula, sino que además su segundo, Felipe Zuleta se deshace en elogios al presidente sin siquiera sonrojarse. ¿Qué nos queda entonces? En lo medios escritos nacionales El Espectador es sin duda el que presenta la mayor independencia y se ha convertido en la puerta abierta de todos aquellos que seriamente planteen sus posiciones, así difieran de las oficiales. Fidel Cano es el director de medios escritos que se la está jugando para que el cuarto poder cumpla su verdadera función. Debe reconocerse también que Portafolio siempre acoge a sus columnistas; abre sus puertas a quienes de manera sólida fijen posiciones en temas económicos.

La pregunta que surge es si se está empezando a pagar el costo de que los principales periódicos pertenezcan hoy a grandes empresarios que sin duda a pesar de su gran riqueza, dependen de decisiones del gobierno. No todos, porque los Santo Domingo están mostrando su respeto a la libertad de prensa, pero esto no es claro en las actitudes de los demás dueños de medios escritos. Como son empresas privadas tiene el derecho a tener una tendencia política. El problema es que está generando un monopolio de información escrita cargado a la derecha. Los medios nacionales que son a los que tiene acceso todo el país, inclinados a un solo lado, generan un peso de influencia inadecuado. Le queda a la gente generar el contrapeso y eso solo lo pueden hacer apoyando a esos medios balanceados que aún publican ideas políticas de todos los sectores para poder comparar.

Es a la gente a la que le corresponde buscar el equilibrio. Reconocer esto es fundamental porque de alguna manera se están sintiendo restricciones en la forma como se analiza lo que esta sucediendo en el país. Por ello es importante prender alarmas porque ya hemos visto que puede pasar cuando se trata de ahogar esa corriente crítica en una sociedad.

Se debe respetar sin duda la posibilidad de que todas las corrientes ideológicas expresen sus ideas y que el público decida cuales acoge y cuales no. Pero lo que sí es muy grave es que se creen estos sesgos de una manera tan evidente en los pocos medios escritos nacionales que quedan en este país. Obviamente las redes sociales juegan un papel crucial lo mismo que medios virtuales en los cuales no hay hasta ahora presiones para definir una sola línea. Sin embargo, es fundamental hacer una llamado porque de los valores que tiene nuestro país es la democracia, imperfecta sin duda, pero democracia de todas maneras en donde cabe la posibilidad real de expresar opiniones de distintas tendencias. Reducir esas posibilidades es de los más peligroso que puede afrontar un país.

La polarización de los medios de comunicación es una mala señal que puede consolidarse y por ello es hora de hacer un llamado para que no se cierren puertas a quienes de manera responsable difieren de las posiciones oficiales. Eso se llama libertad y lo otro ni siquiera vale la pena ponerle nombre. Todos lo conocen.
