El pasado sábado 21 de junio se realizó en el cementerio del municipio de Rivera el sepelio de Feliz María Cárdenas, un amigo, luchador agrario, que llegó a la localidad en los comienzos de los años 70 procedente de Natagaima, su ciudad de origen. Traía en su alma las enseñanzas de Manuel Quintín Lame, a quien en su juventud conoció en sus actividades gremiales en el sur del Tolima y quien fuera el más importante líder indígena colombiano del siglo pasado, defensor de las comunidades aborígenes y de sus cabildos ancestrales, como también de los campesinos, los dos grupos sociales perseguidos y despojados de sus resguardos y parcelas por los terratenientes. La década de los años 70 del siglo pasado fue de grandes convulsiones sociales en Colombia. El gobierno de Carlos Lleras Restrepo, penúltimo del Frente Nacional, quiso estimular la reforma agraria en el país con la ley 1ª. de 1968, pues entendía que sin esta reforma el desarrollo del capitalismo y la modernidad estarían frenados, como de hecho ha venido sucediendo. Para darle fuerza política y social a esta reforma expidió el decreto 755 de mayo de 1967 mediante el cual creó la Asociación Nacional de Usuarios Campesinos – ANUC. La organización pronto creció y le sirvió al campesinado como instrumento de lucha por la tierra, el crédito agropecuario, la asistencia técnica y el mercadeo justo de sus cosechas, los mismos objetivos que hoy mantiene el sector agrario, porque estas luchas, a pesar de su fuerza, sólo han alcanzado pequeñas reivindicaciones, pero sigue pendiente una gran reforma agraria integral.
Feliz Cárdenas se vinculó a la ANUC de Rivera uniendo fuerza con dirigentes como Fidel Lozano, Argelio Oliveros, Jorge Eliecer Puentes y Humberto Santana, Este último, fue por varios años presidente del Comité de Aspirante a Tierra de la ANUC, siendo asesinado en su propio negocio el 25 de junio de 1988, hace 32 años, crimen que aún permanece impune y donde al parecer tuvo responsabilidad la propia policía del municipio. La hacienda Gutemberg, tomada varias veces por la ANUC, terminó siendo parcelada por el Incora en 1989, un año después de la muerte de Humberto. Feliz obtuvo allí una parcela, que tiempo después vendió, al comprobar que la tierra sin adecuados sistemas productivos, asistencia técnica, crédito y mercadeo de las cosechas, no logra el propósito de redimir económica y socialmente al campesino.
Feliz María Cárdenas fue militante del Partido Comunista Colombiano y luego de la Unión Patriótica, fuerzas políticas a las que sirvió con lealtad y entrega admirables. ¡Paz en la tumba del líder desaparecido!
