El teatro Pigoanza, erguido en el corazón de Neiva, es el legado, medio siglo después, del otrora poderoso edificio, construido con dineros oficiales, que vuelve a convertirse en escenario cultural y de encuentros, luego de sometido a la segunda remodelación, con inversión de $3.000 millones, en 49 años de existencia.
Este escenario subutilizado y olvidado por negligencia oficial, por más de 15 años consecutivos, es el primer piso del edificio Pigoanza, frente a la Gobernación del Departamento, y es lo único para el fisco, porque la restante propiedad horizontal, se entregó a particulares, pagando favores políticos.
LA INVERESIÓN
La recuperación del escenario, deteriorado y carente de mantenimiento, se efectuó mediante contrato millonario que incluyó las siguientes acciones:
- Instalación de piso en cerámica para el teatro y pisos en PVC vinílicos para la tarima.
- Remodelación del cielo raso y las paredes de todo el recinto, al igual que los baños, los camerinos y los espacios de acceso con puertas nuevas.
- Instalación de vidrio templado de 19 mm con los accesorios de instalación en acero inoxidable para la tarima y la fachada.
- Instalación de paneles arquitectónicos flotantes para el cielo raso y panales arquitectónicos anclados a los muros para las paredes.
- Cambio total de la red eléctrica con acometidas para luces, sonido, proyector y aires acondicionados.
- Cambio de equipos de aires acondicionados: se desmontaron cuatro condensadoras de aire acondicionado, las cuales tenían 40 años de uso y que producían mucha vibración y mucho ruido. Se instalaron cuatro condensadoras modernas de 25 toneladas cada una, los cuales son mucho más eficientes, producen menos ruido y son amigables con el medio ambiente.
- Instalación de un sistema de alumbrado moderno con equipos de luces robóticas, consolas de manejo y reflectores.
- Instalación de pantalla de proyección frontal.
- Adecuación de un sistema moderno de sonido compuesto por consola digital, mezclador digital de 32 canales, con amplificación, micrófonos, sistemas de altavoces
- Instalación de un proyector digital multifuncional.
- Instalación de un sistema de elevación foso-orquesta de plataforma hidráulica con capacidad de 5 toneladas.
- Instalación de sistema de cámaras de vigilancia.
- Instalación de 774 sillas tipo auditorio, básicas de confort para el teatro.
- Amoblamiento y dotación de accesorios para los camerinos y el resto del teatro.
HISTORIA
En varias ciudades colombianas, se proyectaron diferentes iniciativas en torno a teatros, y «para llevar a cabo estos proyectos se asociaron los arquitectos José María García y José Yahamure Helo, formaron una compañía denominada García & Yahamure, que proyectaron y construyeron los principales teatros de la época, como el Ópera de Bogotá, el San Andrés en la isla homónima, el Riviera de Bogotá, el Metropol en Ibagué, el Scala en Bogotá, El Rosental en Cúcuta y el teatro Pigoanza en Neiva».
Jaime Afanador Tovar, gobernador del 1964 al 1966, se inició la contratación para elaborar del esquema básico, el anteproyecto y el proyecto del teatro Pigoanza.
El gobernador que le siguió, Max Francisco Duque Palma, inició la construcción bajo la dirección del ingeniero civil Rodrigo Ocampo Ospina como residente de obra, Jaime Tovar como maestro de obra, Saín Mosquera como contramaestre, Luis Hernández oficial mayor de construcción y Célimo Mosquera como ayudante principal.
Todo el equipo estaba bajo la responsabilidad inmediata del arquitecto Eduardo Hakim Murad como administrador delegado, y supervisado por el arquitecto Antonio María Paredes Tamayo en calidad de interventor técnico.
El fuerte terremoto de febrero de 1967 que destruyó gran parte del patrimonio arquitectónico y dejó a la región en graves problemas económicos y sociales, hizo imposible continuar con la construcción del recinto cultural, por más de ocho meses.
Augusto Paredes Tamayo, gobernador entre mayo de 1969 y agosto de 1970, mediante decreto creó La Junta Departamental de la Beneficencia del Huila, como institución autónoma de la administración, para terminar de la construcción de un edificio mixto, que solucionara con arriendos, el problema de vivienda y construyera el recinto para el gran teatro.
La Junta la manejaban: el gobernador Augusto Paredes Tamayo, Felio Andrade Manrique, Ricardo Dussán Romero, Rómulo González Trujillo, Orlando Guzmán Perdomo y Guillermo Plazas Alcid, bajo la tutoría del síndico general Daniel Gutiérrez Blanco.
La junta contrató la construcción del teatro, inaugurado el miércoles 6 de mayo de 1970.
El 15 de mayo, se proyectó la película ‘El lago de los cisnes’, con la que se inauguraron las funciones públicas en el recinto teatral, junto a la cinta ‘Donde las águilas se atreven’.
Las posteriores administraciones departamentales de Carlos Ortiz Fernández y Héctor Polanía Sánchez acabaron de dotar el Teatro Pigoanza con equipamientos tecnológicos de alta generación que existían hasta 1974.
En 1983, la sala de cine fue restaurada especialmente en su silletería, telones y demás equipamientos técnicos.
