¿Cuál es el cuento de que de qué la «izquierda» es un peligro para la democracia? Eso no es otra cosa que desconocimiento en materia de ideologías políticas.
Actualmente España es gobernada por el presidente Pedro Sánchez, socialista, del Partido Socialista de los Trabajadores -Pesoe- y allí hay una democracia plena.

Igual ocurre con Portugal, donde el socialismo hace poco ganó de nuevo la presidencia.
Y qué decir de los países nórdicos donde los servicios sociales esenciales para la igualdad ciudadana como lo la educación y la salud son públicos, totalmente gratuitos y de excelente calidad para todos ciudadanos. Eso se llama socialismo democrático.
Que es muy diferente del socialismo marxista, comúnmente de nominado «comunismo». Hay que estudiar ideologías políticas para no incurrir en tantas inexactitudes que se leen y se dicen por ahí.

Actualmente en Colombia ninguno de los candidatos a la presidencia pertenece al partido comunista ni tiene esa orientación ideológica. Afirmar que todo aquello que propenda a favorecer a las clases populares es «comunista», sencillamente es una aberración. Eso no cabe en la cabeza de alguien que conozca de ideologías políticas
Es lamentable que en Colombia los partidos políticos no dan formación política a sus militantes. Y así ha sido siempre. Yo jamás he visto que los partidos tradicionales impartieran formación política a sus militancias.

Desde antaño, lo único que sabían las masas populares era que los liberales defendían el color rojo mientras conservadores exaltaban el color azul. La ideología se limitaba al color de un trapo. Y por esos se han matado los colombianos a lo largo del devenir republicano. Pero los muertos, en su inmensa mayoría los han puesto los de abajo, los humildes, los más pobres. Por eso, Jorge Eliécer Gaitán decía que hambre del pueblo no era conservadora ni liberal. Y lo mataron.
Actualmente los políticos de ambos viejos partidos han entrado en decadencia y han surgido nuevas formas políticas que en estos momentos están en pugna por el poder entre los que reclaman un cambio profundo y los que se oponen a esa transformación.

El país asiste en estos momentos a uno de los grandes momentos de su devenir político. Ojalá este proceso se desarrolle en paz y sea respetado el veredicto de las urnas.
