“Cuando hay inversión social para los territorios y llega a las comunidades, uno se siente satisfecho”, dice Rodolfo Olaya, representante legal de la Asociación Ambiental Revivir al referirse a la intervención del Proyecto Integral de Desarrollo Agropecuario y Rural (PIDAR) 343, con el que se mejoraron las condiciones de trabajo de 35 familias cafeteras de la región con la construcción e implementación de sistemas de secados solares para el manejo de café especial.
El PIDAR es un proyecto liderado por la Agencia de Desarrollo Rural (ADR), con la cooperación técnico de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO), y que, en el caso de Rivera, Huila, contó con la participación de la Asociación Ambiental Revivir y de la Alcaldía de Rivera.

El PIDAR es, según la ADR, una iniciativa productiva que contempla actividades limitadas en el tiempo, que utiliza parcialmente recursos públicos con el fin de crear, ampliar, mejorar o recuperar la capacidad de producción o de provisión de bienes o servicios por parte del Estado en el sector rural. La ADR con la cooperación técnica de la FAO, apoyan la implementación de esos proyectos a través de procesos de formación técnica, socio empresariales y de corresponsabilidad con el medio ambiente; y con la entrega de insumos o bienes de acuerdo con las características del proyecto.

En Rivera, Huila, 35 familias cafeteras participaron activamente en el proceso de fortalecimiento de conocimientos que incluyó asistencia técnica, socio empresarial y manejo de herramientas TICs. La formación se realizó de manera individual y colectiva. Según el líder de la Asociación “las capacitaciones fueron muy buenas. La gente tomó conciencia de cómo trabajar los abonos, la florescencia y con el secadero aprendieron a identificar si está muy verde o se cristalizó. Es decir, a sacarlo en condiciones óptimas”.
El líder llamó la atención sobre la formación de alfabetización digital: “Aquí la gente no sabía cómo prender un computador. Temblaban frente a la máquina porque creían que si le hundían una tecla se iba a dañar. Esos son temas muy tesos”.

Al final de la intervención se evidenciaron unas rentas económicas importantes para el productor, considerando que la disminución en el porcentaje de humedad tiene un impacto positivo en el precio de venta.
Así mismo, se presentó un mejoramiento en el rendimiento del secado de café por metro cuadrado y, por lo tanto, un aumento del 75% en el volumen de café pergamino seco disponible para venta, pasando de 40% al 70%.
Adicionalmente, se destaca que la organización logra producir 150 libras mensuales de café procesado, que son comercializadas con empaque y marca propia, generando ingresos adicionales mensuales por $2.100.000.

De este PIDAR se destaca que la labor de administración de recursos realizada por la FAO generó unos ahorros que se reinvirtieron en la asociación y que se utilizaron para la compra de equipos como trilladora, tostadora, molino, selladora, mesa de trabajo, medidor de humedad, balanza electrónica de precisión de décima (1500 gr.), cucharas de catación, juego de mallas, molino portátil, balanza digital con plataforma y equipos de oficina.
Sistema de Secado Solar
A cada productor se le entregó un secadero de café con las siguientes características: es una estructura espacial metálica tipo túnel de 5.2 m por 8.0 m; con un área total ocupada de 41,60 m2. Tiene cubierta y cerramiento en plástico. En el interior, las zonas de paseras están en dos niveles. Cada bandeja de secado tiene cuatro paseras.
Funciona como un sistema de entrada de aire lateral. La temperatura y circulación de aire se controla con las cortinas laterales, las cuales pueden ser elevadas según el flujo que requiera el proceso.

Adicionalmente, el secadero está cerrado en polisombra de transparencia de 50%, para no permitir el acceso de ningún elemento animal o vegetal que pueda contaminar el grano.
“Tener el secadero nos mejoró las condiciones de vida a los productores”, dice Olaya. Además de que los cafeteros redujeron de 10 y 15 días a 5 días, en promedio, el tiempo de secado, también lograron mejorar el precio de venta a las trilladoras.
En términos de comercialización ya cuentan con marca propia: REVIVIR, y están gestionando su código de barras con el que sueñan iniciar la venta en la región. “Sabemos que nos hace falta mucho camino por aprender, pero estamos seguros que si contamos con la asesoría adecuada, lo podemos lograr”, concluye el líder de Rivera.
