La aerolínea colombiana AVIANCA adelantó a hoy la suspensión de sus vuelos hacia y desde Venezuela, inicialmente prevista para el 16 de agosto, ante la delicada situación en el país vecino, informó la compañía.
«Debido a limitaciones operativas y de seguridad registradas en las últimas horas, Avianca se ve en la obligación de suspender a partir de hoy sus operaciones a Venezuela, y no desde el 16 de agosto, como estaba previsto», expresó la aerolínea en un comunicado.
AVIANCA había anunciado ayer que por «dificultades operacionales» a mediados de agosto suspendería los vuelos entre Bogotá y Caracas y entre Lima y la capital de Venezuela, poniendo fin a más de 60 años de operaciones en ese país, pero el agravamiento de la crisis le llevó a anticipar esa medida.
«Esto incluye el cierre de la venta de pasajes en las rutas que conectan a Caracas con Bogotá y Lima», agregó en el comunicado.
Según explicó ayer la aerolínea, la medida «se sustenta en la necesidad de adecuar varios procesos a los estándares internacionales, mejorar la infraestructura aeroportuaria en Venezuela y garantizar la consistencia en las operaciones».
La suspensión de los vuelos afecta la conectividad aérea de Venezuela, de donde ya se han retirado varias aerolíneas, pues Avianca tiene una participación de mercado del 59 % en la ruta Bogotá-Caracas-Bogotá y del 77 % en la Lima-Caracas-Lima.
Según la empresa, los viajeros con vuelos programados para esta semana serán acomodados en «otras aerolíneas según disponibilidad».
«A los viajeros con reserva que no sean reacomodados, se les reembolsará el 100 % del valor pagado por sus boletos», agrega el comunicado, que destaca que esta medida está «encaminada a preservar la seguridad».
