Palermo, Aipe, Tello, Neiva, Campolegre, Rivera y Villavieja integrarían el Área metropolitana del Huila, según se dio a conocer hoy en el Foro realizado por la Asamblea del Huila.
Para Alfredo Saavedra Vergel, presidente de la asociación áreas metropolitanas de Colombia, es necesario aprovechar las potencialidades de la región. «Esta sería un área fortalecida en la parte hídrica, pues estaría atravesada por el río Magdalena. El desierto de la Tatacoa sería Metrópolitano y destino internacional, y el aeropuerto de Neiva sería ampliado para tener vuelos internacionales», indicó.
José Eustasio Rivera, presidente de la Duma, celebró poner en la agenda pública un tema que promete desarrollo articulado en los municipios del Huila.
El Gobernador Carlos Julio González, en la instalación del evento, destacó las capacidades del Huila y reiteró su disposición para acompañar el proceso.
La creación del Área Metrópolitana además necesitar del aval de las autoridades políticas de los municipios, también requerirá una consulta popular, que para el caso de este grupo de municipios deberá alcanzar unas 70 mil personas.
Eugenio Prieto, director del área metropolitana del Valle de Aburrá, advirtió que la creación de un área metrópolitana no se podría lograr en menos de dos años, por lo que propuso que inicialmente se realicen «Provincias administrativas de Planificación», figura que permite también la asociatividad de municipios, pero con menores dificultades para su conformación.
