De las 438 personas precandidatas al Congreso que ha documentado Pares a la fecha, 127 tienen cuestionamientos. Son cifras exorbitantes: tres de cada diez personas que aspiran a una curul están cuestionadas por escándalos de corrupción, por parapolítica, por vínculos con grupos armados, por heredar capital político de personas o clanes cuestionados, entre otros.
Los 5 partidos políticos con mayor cantidad de precandidatas y precandidatos con cuestionamientos son: el Partido Conservador, con 26 precandidaturas cuestionadas; el partido Liberal, el de la U y Cambio Radical con 24 y el Centro Democrático con 17. Y los departamentos que concentran la mayor cantidad de precandidatos cuestionados que aspiran a la Cámara de Representantes son: Antioquia (8), Córdoba (8), Tolima (6), Risaralda (5) y Valle del Cauca (5).
En algunos casos, se trata de la reelección de aquellas personas que han sido señaladas en elecciones anteriores y que permanecen en su curul a pesar de las sendas investigaciones que tienen en órganos judiciales y de control; pero en otros casos se trata de personas herederas de clanes políticos y de estructuras asociadas con graves escándalos de corrupción; e incluso, se cuentan también diversos precandidatos y precandidatas que tienen investigaciones propias en su contra a nivel judicial, disciplinario y fiscal.
