Pequeñas vías taponadas por derrumbes, destrucción de áreas cultivadas con diversos productos como: café, plátano, yuca, maíz, caña, fijos; locales para producción de panela, secaderos de café y varias viviendas averiadas; sistemas de acueductos rurales semi-destruidos, revelan los primeros informes entregados desde esa región agrícola.
Esas afectaciones se presentaron en las localidades de La Esmeralda, Patio Bonito, Las Mercedes, La Mesa y El Tenerife, según reporte suministrado desde la alcaldía.
Como la región afectada se encuentra sobr4e la pendiente de la cordillera Central, los deslizamientos fueron numerosos, por la sobrecarga de los suelos que, junto con la aguda desforestación y debilitamiento de la capa protectora, facilitaron los deslizamientos que ocasionaron destrucción en las áreas de cultivos, pero no pérdida de vidas humanas.
La estrechez financiera que registran las arcas municipales, característica histórica de la alcaldía local, impide destinar apoyos para las familias damnificadas, razón por la que esperan la intervención de la Gobernación del Huila a través de la oficina regional de Unidad Nacional de la Gestión del Riesgo y prevención de Desastre.
