La empresa colombiana, Medicamentos de Cannabis SAS, MEDCANN, es la primera compañía en el país, autorizada para cultivar y procesar Cannabis Medicinal, con todas las licencias, que otorgan tanto el Ministerio de Justicia y del Derecho como el de Salud y Protección Social.
Las licencias dan vía libre a MEDCANN para comenzar a desarrollar operaciones de cultivo y transformación de cannabis con fines medicinales.
El proyecto contempla operaciones agrícolas 100% naturales y sostenibles, para posteriormente extraer los compuestos activos del cannabis y refinarlos para la producción de medicamentos de la más alta calidad farmacéutica. Procesos que se realizaran con los más altos estándares de calidad farmacéutica.
“MEDCANN se enorgullece de ser la primera compañía colombiana en recibir las licencias necesarias para comenzar las operaciones de cultivo y procesamiento de cannabis con fines medicinales. Esta concesión muestra la confianza del Gobierno Colombiano en los proyectos de origen nacional y más concretamente en la seriedad de la propuesta de valor DE MEDCANN”, dijo Felipe Harker, vicepresidente ejecutivo.
EL EPICENTRO
MEDCANN desarrollará un cultivo inicial de 10 hectáreas de cannabis psicoactivo, y no psicoactivo, en una finca de 14 hectáreas situada en Fuente de Oro, Meta, donde también instalará su centro de propagación y desarrollo genético, una planta de procesamiento, laboratorios y su centro de I+D agronómico.
La totalidad del proceso tanto agrícola como industrial será sostenible, efectuado de una manera natural y neutra con el medio ambiente. La energía se generará mediante fuentes renovables con foco en paneles fotovoltaicos. MEDCANN considera el aspecto social como uno de sus pilares fundamentales y por ello está comprometida en desarrollar proyectos productivos sostenibles, en las comunidades donde opera.
“La concesión de estas licencias abre las puertas al desarrollo de una industria nacional con un enorme potencial, tanto desde el punto de vista agrícola, como del académico, médico y científico.
