En Plenaria de la Cámara de Representantes fue aprobado el proyecto de ley que busca prorrogar, por un año, la entrada en vigencia de dos medidas de la Ley de Racionalización de la Detención Preventiva (Ley 1760 de 2015) para los casos relacionados con delitos graves o de especial complejidad.
Así las cosas, jueces y fiscales tendrían doce meses más para resolver de manera pronta la situación jurídica de cerca de 9.500 personas que se encuentran privadas de la libertad a la espera de que se les resuelva su situación jurídica. Esta Ley hace parte de una serie de reformas y nuevos modelos procesales que la constituyen de vital importancia frente a la política criminal del país.
“Hoy lo que aprobamos en este debate es el aplazamiento de algunas disposiciones de la Ley 1760 relacionadas con las medidas de detención preventiva para delitos graves en virtud de que su investigación es compleja. Esperamos llegar al Senado y terminar el trámite de este proyecto de ley”, señaló el Ministro de Justicia, Jorge Londoño.
Según cifras de la Agencia de Defensa Jurídica del Estado, los colombianos han pagado cerca de 2 billones de pesos por demandas relacionadas con detenciones injustas o arbitrarias. Actualmente son más de 15.000 los casos de este tipo con demandas cuyas pretensiones ascienden a los 22 billones de pesos.
