‘El Gobierno nacional nos ha brindado la posibilidad de estudiar en las mejores universidades y debemos retribuir al país por ese esfuerzo’, asegura este joven de 18 años.
Hoy, Daniel Felipe Blanco Sánchez está más convencido que nunca de que ser pilo sí paga.
Lo dice mientras observa un paquete de documentos en los que se certifica que él, un laboyano -como se les dice a los nacidos en Pitalito (Huila) – de 18 años, es uno de los beneficiarios del fondo ‘Pilos por el mundo’, por lo que próximamente viajará a Corea del Sur a continuar sus estudios universitarios de ingeniería mecatrónica.
‘Pilos por el mundo’ es una convocatoria para que los beneficiaros del programa ‘Ser pilo paga’ de la segunda versión, del Ministerio de Educación Nacional, realizarán parte de sus estudios en Francia o en Corea del Sur. Al país europeo, en 2016, viajó un grupo y Daniel es el primero que, por sus buenos resultados en las pruebas de SAT (Scholarship Aptitude Test) -1.330 puntos de 1.600- y en el examen Toefl, irá en agosto próximo hasta Asia.
«Mi meta en Pitalito era estudiar en la Universidad Nacional de Bogotá y gracias al Gobierno nacional, con ‘Ser pilo paga’, lo logré. Y ahora se me presenta esta gran oportunidad de viajar a Corea a estudiar y hay que aprovecharla. Vea que ‘Ser pilo sí paga’. De eso no hay duda», afirma con una sonrisa que rompe su casi permanente timidez.
En 2015 Daniel presentó en su municipio las pruebas Saber 11, en las que obtuvo 454 puntos y, de paso, un tiquete a Bogotá, gracias a la iniciativa del Ministerio de Educación Nacional que brinda la posibilidad a los mejores estudiantes de bajos recursos de cursar la carrera que deseen en universidades acreditadas: ‘Ser pilo paga’.
«Me he adaptado bien a la ciudad y a la universidad; académicamente también estoy muy contento -comenta Daniel-. Ante esas situaciones decidí postularme a ‘Pilos por el mundo’ y salí seleccionado, lo que es una gran felicidad para mí y mi familia».
El fondo cubre la totalidad de la matrícula universitaria en el país donde está la universidad y entrega un apoyo de 900 dólares mensuales para vivienda, transporte, alimentación y seguro médico.
Daniel llegará a la Universidad KAIST a seguir con su preparación académica. El 22 de agosto deberá estar en Seúl, donde la institución le proveerá un acompañamiento para que se acomode y adapte lo más rápido posible al país y su cultura.
«¡Claro que tengo muchas expectativas! Por ejemplo, como en adaptarme a la cultura, a la educación, volverme un mejor estudiante y rendir académicamente, ya que he oído que son muy exigentes», manifiesta Daniel en medio de risas y agrega que se está preparando para mejorar su inglés en el Instituto Colombo Americano, también gracias al fondo ‘Pilos por el mundo’.
La meta de Daniel es la misma que se fijó cuando salió de Pitalito: ser un excelente profesional, destacarse en tecnología y crear su propia empresa.
«Debemos retribuir lo que el país y el Gobierno nacional está haciendo por nosotros, brindándonos estas oportunidades. Tenemos que ser una ayuda para Colombia», manifiesta mientras vuelve a mirar los documentos donde está su nombre como el seleccionado para estudiar en Corea.
